On November 1, the annual student council elections of International House Toshkent took place at the Palace of Culture of the National Research University “TIIAME” — a key event that shapes the future of student self-governance and defines the voice of the student body for the coming academic year.
A tradition that has become part of the school’s identity
The election of the Students’ Union President is no longer a formality. It has grown into a real platform where students gain hands-on experience in public leadership, campaigning, teamwork, and responsible voting. Every year, this tradition creates future organizers, project leaders, and initiative-driven representatives — and has become an integral part of the educational culture at International House Toshkent.
How the event unfolded
The elections followed the classic structure:
- official presentations of the candidates and their programs,
- speeches in front of an audience made up mostly of first-year students,
- musical performances by invited artists between presentations, turning the event into a full-scale cultural program rather than a formal voting session.
The stage was set up in a debate-style format, emphasizing the seriousness of the moment and showing the audience that this was a real democratic process, not just a symbolic ritual.
Election results
Based on the final vote, the new President of Students’ Union 25 became Amir Turdimatov, a second-year student. His campaign received the strongest support from first-year students — the main voting group that determines the council’s composition for the upcoming year.
His victory comes with more than a title: it means responsibility. From now on, he will oversee event organization, represent students’ interests to the administration, manage initiatives, and lead the internal student community life.
Why this election matters
- It strengthens a culture of student self-governance and conscious decision-making.
- It provides real experience in public communication — something no textbook can fully teach.
- It shows that student leadership is not a simulation of “adult politics,” but an early version of it.
This year’s elections proved once again that at International House Toshkent, student initiatives are not just encouraged — they are developed as a full and meaningful institution.
Now the main part begins — turning promises into action.
The elections are over, but the work of Students’ Union 25 is only just beginning, and the upcoming academic year will show how well words from the stage translate into real results.
