Paul Nicklen, Christina Mittermeier and Sean Hendricks. Perhaps, for many, these surnames will not say anything, but not for the participants and listeners of the presentation held on November 3, 2021 at the Academic Lyceum INTERNATIONAL HOUSE-TASHKENT TIIAME.
Paul Nicklen is uniquely qualified to create his own brand of documentary photography that informs and creates an emotional connection with wild objects in extreme conditions. His works transport viewers to the underwater realm, which few people witness.
Kristina Mittermeier is a marine biologist and activist who pioneered the concept in the field of conservation photography. Mittermeier founded the International League of Conservation Photographers (ILCP) in 2005 to provide a platform for photographers working on environmental issues. In 2014, Mittermeier co-founded SeaLegacy, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the ocean.
Together, Kristina and Paul founded an organization and its name is SeaLegacy. SeaLegacy is a global network of storytellers who use their art and expertise in media and communications to support a community focused on restoring the health and abundance of the ocean.
Their mission is to create healthy oceans for us humans and for the whole planet.
Our lyceum students again used the concept of the PhotoArk presentation, speaking as speakers and talking about important topics of the ecological state of the environment.
Among the issues raised at the presentation were plastic pollution, unauthorized hunting of sharks and dolphins, the importance of the seas and oceans in everyone’s life.
